Triodos and Solar for Schools CBS

Triodos Bank and Solar for Schools CBS are working together to grow a network of solar-powered schools

The Solar for Schools CBS has received a £3 million loan from Triodos Bank UK to partner with around 30 more UK schools.  The money from the loan will be used to provide an additional boost of investment alongside money raised through government grants and community investments from individuals.

The Solar for Schools Community Benefit Society (CBS) is a non-profit organisation whose members invest to fund the installation of solar on schools. The investment enables schools to generate their own affordable renewable energy, while reducing both their energy bills and CO2 emissions.

The CBS also provides free education to every school it works with, for the lifetime of the solar panels, giving the next generation access to the skills and knowledge needed to benefit from the transition to a sustainable economy.

Triodos Bank has been lending to renewable energy projects in the UK for nearly 30 years and has lent £85 million to over 30 community energy projects.

* Double your impact: For every pound invested by individuals, the CBS is able to invest an additional £1 from Triodos Bank, so our partnership with the Bank means we can double your impact.

Founded in 1980, Triodos Bank has become the leader in sustainable banking globally.
